New Zealand-born but a citizen of the world, Mimi Todhunter settled in Venice, Italy, more than two decades ago. Ever since, her boundless energy and enthusiasm for her adopted city inspires Mimi to search for remnants of Venetian old glories– be it an artichoke peeler at the famous Rialto market, or the last of the bookbinders still active in La Serenissima.
Mimi and her husband John host elegant parties in the piano nobile of their Venetian palazzo, offering a warm gathering place for scholars, an international roster of distinguished guests, and Venice lovers from around the globe.
I was delighted to sit down with Mimi for a glass of prosecco at her Palazzo for this lovely chat about her life and what it’s like to live in Venice today. She also shared some of her favorite must-sees in Venice and its Lagoon.
